With many animal species it is possible to carry out a parentage analysis to determine the parents of a young animal. This analysis requires a DNA sample from the young and its possible parents. Please note that you purchase one parentage analysis per animal. For example; if you want to know whether 1 young is the offspring of 2 putative parents (mother/father), you pay 3 x €45.38 (total price is €136.14). Note, using parentage analysis it is not possible to determine whether two animals are brother and sister unless the putative parents are known or part of the analysis. Parentage analysis in mammals is of course possible, we need a freshly plucked hair sample or a blood sample to perform the analysis.
